There seem to be several posts that may be interrelated:

Qtime 7 dosenot support hotspots !!??
hotspot link to new window

Maybe they should all be dealt with in one central place.

I thought my problem had been solved

when Thomas explained "Ok, I noticed for the new QuickTime version 7.1.5 that hotspots work if you remove the starting 'A' in the hotspot link (maybe this trick also works for older versions of QuickTime 7). The new version 1.5.3 of Pano2QTVR changed its behavior to match this pattern.

but NO: once created on my local machine using V 1.5.3, the MOVIE is perfect. Clicking on any hotspot opens the target pages in IE7.

BUT as soon as I embed the movie in an html page, all my "myself" hotspots work, but my "_blank" ones simply do not open.

ANY IDEAS?
Thanks!

Hmmm... maybe remove everything except the next URL. I hope this will work.

Take a look at http://lochorama.com/test.html
3 hotspots:
1 (_myself) works
2 (_blank) created by clicking on "Link to URL" (v5.3) - DOES NOT WORK
3 (created by simply typing "http://ebay.com" in the URL field) WORKS FINE!
Just notice you released v 6.0. I haven't yet checked if it solves the problem.

TO SUM UP, I can't find any way of creating a _blank hotspot.

Hi Thomas,

Seems like someone which is not sure at all about suggested solution.

Here is my strange problem with hotspots.

I have created two panos with hotspots : Pano.mov and Pano2.mov
- Pano.mov has one hotsopt towards Pano2.mov.
- Pano2.mov has one hotspot towards Pano.mov.

Now, If I start with Pano.mov, I can go to Pano2.mov but from pano2.mov I can't go back to Pano.mov.

Now, If I start with Pano2.mov I can go to Pano.mov  but from Pano.mov I can't go back to Pano2.mov

Pano2Qtvr : 1.6.2
QuickTime : 7.0.4.80
I got also same problem with QT : 7.1.5.120.

With Pano2QTVR 1.5.2 (or 1.5.3) and QT 6.xx hotspots links worked well.

Seems that with new releases (of Pano2Qtvr and QT) things are getting worse and worse.

Regards

I don't know more and I can not do more then you can do. There are several documents from Apple which say that this should work, but obviously it does not. So the only option is to test the final application with different version of QuickTime.

I do what I can but QuickTime 7 was the worst release ever in respect to QTVR support. Until QuickTime 7.0.5 most QTVR crashed the browser, special characters in the userdata didn't worked until 7.1, and 7.1.5 disabled Flash and the ActiveX control that I used to make the preview was removed without any notice from Apple. All these problems are caused by Apple not Pano2QTVR.

I think Flash is a better solution because as far as I can tell it is much more stable between different version.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your answer. This means at least you are aware of this problem.

Here is something strange.
I'm still with my two mov files. (Pano.mov and Pano2.mov, linked together by hotspots.)
No, if in a P2QTVR project (Pano.pqp) I create a html file (normal_quicktime.html), I can from this html file, move from Pano.mov to Pano2.mov and come back again. :D

It seems that if you start from a html file the hotspots links are ok.

I hope this will help to understand and solve the problem.
