A sprite can be an interactive element like a Flash movie or QuickTime object or simple graphics. You can generate QuickTime objects with f.e Lifestage Pro or VRHotwires. The only page that I know that has a collection of free sprites is http://homepage.mac.com/qt4web/sprites/items.html but I guess other people (like Patrick) can help you more with this topic.
