Hey Folks

Where do you go to start researching how to shoot 360 objects? is there a thread/blog/forum/website that goes over the details of it? especially how to shoot looking strait on and down on the shot?

Same with gear recommendations, any place you'd suggest i could start looking?

thanks

Hi kasenyee,
There are many websites to learn about product photography but...
The thing to remember with then spinning the object around is your object will move in and out of the focal point you set.
So this calls for upping the F number to keep a good depth of field as it rotates.
Im sure others can input here but I use a Canon 6D and a 24/70 f4 L lens white or black backdrop and some lights, constant types, not flash.

The table can be a manual turn table to an expensive motorised monster, but as long as you get an even spaced step then all works.
The Robot and Reindeer objects I use as tests were shot on £2.00 cake icing turn table with evenly spaced index marks made with a marker pen.

Hopki

Hi Hopki

thanks for the tips.

I guess what I am looking for is a site or blog that delves specifically in shooting vr objects, not just table top still life. Kind of like panoguide but for this.

One of the aspects that I can't figure out, is how to get shots from higher up (say 3/4 shot or top down shot) while staying on the exact same axis - like what you have on the object2VR page with the dragon. How do you shoot the shots that aren't strait on?

cheers

Hi
The Dragon was a 3D graph rather then an actual object taken with pictures, please see the scooter.
Have a look at this post: http://ggnome.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... 702&p=7678

Something like this?

The post that Hopki directed you to will start you down the path. But to answer your question... No there is not a single location to find out how and with what to do multi-row 360 product photography. I can tell you this. It is simple enough in concept, but in practice it is a whole different ball game. Also, it is a very select few people world wide that can shoot multi-row shots. It is an even more select few that can shoot large multi-row shots. The amount of projects compared to the cost of equipment compared to the time involved makes it a high priced item.

Hi PhotoSpherix, what gear are you using to shoot your multi row object VRs? If I may ask …..

You can ask, but it wont help. We have been building and creating our own rigs for over 12 years now. We have built them(4 current models) for multiple sized products. We have them for little things. Rings and such, and the one we use every day for 3 ft objects. Then the person rig. It doesn't go to the bottom :( and then the one we like to call Really Really big. Standing inside of this rig, the camera is as far as we can get it away. The only other option we would have with it is taller ceilings(16ft) :)

Hi,
Have a look on our turn table page: https://ggnome.com/object2vr/turntables
Follow the links and have a look at the hardware to get ideas.

Hopki, I think he is hunting for the illusive "Other" page. The page that shows all of the multi-row rigs.

Hi Matt,
Pointing him to the manufacture pages, he will see single row and multi row rigs.
Just an idea that may help.
