Taking pictures for Object VR

Hi
I am very new in object VR and I would very much appreciate if somebody let me know how to take pictures, for instance a specific museum object. I use DSLR Nikon 7200 and 50mm , 1.8 lense. I have Manfrotto 360 tripod with 360 head.
What is the cheapest gear to make the job ? I understand that I have to take at least 36 pictures every 10 degrees. Is there anybody who made a rotating table himself? Buying one seems very expensive. I have the opportunity to do it myself but I would need some recommendation and some ideas how to build it.
Thank you
Zoltan
