Hello Everybody,

I came across these really nice animated clothes and I just can't come up with any idea, how that is accomplished? You can even see the tag on the back of the neck and see through the arms...

It must be some kind of setup during the photography process.... and I am pretty sure, it is not a 3D-Construct.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Looks like a standard object movie, the item has been hung on a wireframe body for support which might have been edited out in one or two shots ?

Hi gd8dhe,

thanks for the response.

We thought about the same thing, but it also works with very transparent clothes... and there you would see it somewhere. Also it would be a lot of work, to get all the reworking done.

It seems more like a very thin transparent body or something.

The company has about a 1000 articles, that were produced in that way - so it must be something simple....

that's a puzzler and no mistake.

It's a good effect, but i'm sure there's a quick and lofi way of achieving it. there normally is for this sort of thing!

you could probably use a thin clear structure, made from HIPS or styrene or similar.

It wouldn't have to be fully enclosed, just enough form to wear clothes properly. Shoot it with a polarising filter to remove a lot of the reflection from the plastic, then some basic retouching. there's a good level of detail though, so the resolution is pretty impressive. also no change in wrinkles, so it's shot on a well lit turntable. very professional.

I notice the fastener at the back of the neck is sunken below the profile the back would nrmally follow, which suggests that whatever is holding the clothes on, it's not solid.

edit: i think i've spotted some wadding/stuffing holding this particular dress together, so it's possibly stuffing and wires with some lateral supports

Hi Jobes,

thanks for your input.

Well - the upper Link shows some kind of wire to uphold the string.

I also thought about the plastic inlays - you would need some really thin clear material, that you would have to be recut according to the piece. After a while you would have various versions and would propably be able to reuse most of them.

The question is whether you could actually take photos in a way the plastic doesn't show - as retouching is just to much effort to make it affordable for a company that wants a 1000 of the products done this way.

About the resolution:
They are using a server-technology that reloads pictures in a progressive way. Only the needed resolution is beeing loaded and not the whole flash-file. That keeps traffic down and speeds up the "time-to-view" considerably.
They use the FSIviewer-technology by NeptuneLabs with the eRez-server - quite costly but great technology...
