Cant load image. Segfault crash. Ubuntu

Probably not a totally reliable installation of it.
I just downloaded object2vr and un-archived it.
It starts up, but crashes when I load in an image.
Did the internal check for updates and re-un-packed.
And I tried reducing image size to 1Kx600, still crashes.
Have not tried much else yet.
