In hotspots you can get the target's title, but what about the target description... or even better, any target custom field, is that possible? it could be useful for making callout texts that describe the hotspot.

Yes, using Placeholders you can get any of the Point Hotspot properties, description, target etc and use those in your Hotspot Template in the skin. You can also use any of the Node User Data properties as well.

The point hotspots have text fields, the hotspot that points to node two, displays the title text.
I have also set the user data description placeholder to read the user data description text, $(ud).
Then the text box has the Hotspot Description place holder $(had) to display the user data description text in the hotspot description text, so stacking the data.
But the point is it's the data from the node the hotspot points to and not the current node.
