Re: Some panorama collections

Regarding access to the site, because it is located on the China Lake navy base, the only way in is with an escorted tour. The one I took was offered through this class: http://rockart101.com/.

It is a fascinating place to visit.

Re: Some panorama collections

Thanks! I was fortunate to have one of the instructors from the class do most of the text for me. That added a lot.

I'll check out the 18' poles. Something new to figure out but it would definitely give an interesting perspective on locations like this.

Re: Some panorama collections

Here's something a bit different, a collection of Pano2VR produced HTML5 format pictures and panoramas organized under what's called an "Esri story map": http://lookabout.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=22a48b9efa9444b9a486e0f49f79419a These are all pictures I took at a class I attende...

Re: html5 won't work with chrome

Hopki: Thanks. That looks like it would work well on my local machine that has Pano2VR installed. There is another case that comes up though. Just this week I put a few html5 panoramas on a CD and sent them to an acquaintance who wanted to have a local copy of them. He doesn't have Pano2VR so I don'...

Re: html5 won't work with chrome

I have the same issue with Chrome displaying a black screen when opening an html 5 ".html" file on my local disk. It works fine if the html 5 is on my web site and it also works fine if I paste in the localhost URL the Pano2VR view option generates (as you suggested). I have found I can op...

Re: 3d panorama of Borodino battle

Very nicely done! I viewed it with Internet Explorer on Windows and it looked great. I wonder if you could share the dimensions of the original exhibit? Is it a circular arrangement of paintings that blend into the foreground models, with the visitors walking through the center?

Thanks,
Ben

MetlabBob: This is a great look at a truly historic aircraft. It’s especially interesting to compare the view to the ATTAS in-cockpit panorama posted a week or two ago. Technology has certainly had its impact on the pilot’s experience over the years. The computer crash that took some of your other w...

Re: Some panorama collections

If you woke up this morning in the mood to see some 360 degree virtual oil paintings, you’re in luck (so long as your browser supports Flash). I have posted three at: http://lookabout.net/Mendocino/final/mendocino.htm Follow the “paintbrush” hotlinks in each of the three Mendocino panoramas to trans...

Re: University of Southern California - Tour

Very nice work! I would be interested to hear more about the equipment and techniques you used. In particular, I've always wondered how aerial shots are captured.

Thanks,

Rob: I don't have an iPhone to try this on but everything worked great on my PC. No problem with the "wedding" menu items. I thought it was a very effective tour and well done. Good exposures. I liked the interesting view up the stairwell. I liked the ability to slide the main menu on and ...

Hopki:

Thanks for the tip! I looked over "controller_slide.ggsk" and I see now how the "toggle element position" action can be used to get this behavior. A very useful technique to know about.

Thanks again,
Ben

Very nicely done! I especially liked the slider for viewing or hiding the controls. I hadn't seen that done before.

Re: First attempt at a spherical giga panorama

Jon: I was impressed with your results also. I guess your main concern is some things (like the door at the back of the room) not being in sharp focus? What lens did you shoot with and what aperture did you select? This is sort of basic, but have you tried setting your focus on something about half-...
