Re: Prepare 360˚ Panoramas for Google +

In general, if you have Pano2VR, producing a photosphere for Google Maps is much easier than it used to be. The old “Google Views” is gone now but most places listed on Google Maps have an “Add a photo” option that can be used to upload either a flat photo or a 360 degree panorama (aka photosphere)....

Re: Cardboard/HMD: how to create multiple hotspot menu

Hopki: Thanks! Very interesting information. I had thought that two point hotspots were needed for each thumbnail, one to display the thumbnail image and one to handle the transfer to the target panorama. I see now that both functions can be handled by a single point hotspot. I hadn't tried using lo...

Re: Cardboard/HMD: how to create multiple hotspot menu

GIOLETS: There's another way multiple thumbnail images can be used as gazeable links to other panoramas. Rather than using a patch to add the thumbnails to the base image, the individual thumbnails can be added to the skin as image hotspots. They can then be placed where desired and provided with a ...

Yes, just a one way trip on this simple demo. No return hot spot.

Re: Cardboard/HMD: how to create multiple hotspot menu

One way this could be done is to use a Pano2VR patch to insert the thumbnail images and then put a hotspot on the middle of each to trigger the transfer. If you don't like the circular hotspot target, you can uncheck "visible" in the skin to turn that off. There's a very rough example with...

Re: Tour for both VR headsets & desktop/mobile devices.

Some interesting information there. Thanks! Personally, though, I prefer the approach of having two separate project files as opposed to having one file with two different HTML5 outputs. Both projects can share the same generated tiles and it gives me the flexibility to better customize the cardboar...

Re: Tour for both VR headsets & desktop/mobile devices.

I’m not aware of any way to switch from the standard screen view to split screen without using the special cardboard skin and html template. In practice, though, I don’t find that too problematic. What has worked best for me so far is to have standard and “cardboard” versions of each of my projects....

Dave: Looks like you had a busy day with this. No wonder your head hurts! You were asking about my configuration. I use the Gear VR Innovator Edition (the old model) and a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone. I have pano2VR Pro 5.0 and have been making spherical, multi-node mono panoramas. Thanks for rememb...

Re: V5 VR HMD files and How to.

I discovered a new Gear VR browser menu that puts a pano2vr panorama into the 360 degree immersive viewing mode. The bad news is the viewing experience is very poor in the tests I have run. I’ll pass along the details in case you or someone else can figure out the cause of the viewing problems. Here...

Speaking of updates to the Gear VR browser, it looks like they did one just a few days ago to add webvr support:

Re: V5 VR HMD files and How to.

I used this new technique with a Gear VR Innovator Edition and a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phone. I was able to view both the Fiji Museum and the bavaria360 panos with the immersive "cardboard" experience. "Stare" worked properly to follow the museum links. This was using the phone's...

Re: "cardboard.ggt" & Samsung Gear VR viewing

Dave: I have a Gear VR Innovator Edition with a Note 4 phone. When I use the Samsung Beta browser to go to 360Texas.com, it renders the site in a square window. I can't seem to get it to expand out to the full 360 viewing experience. Are there any tricks to getting that to work? Were there any addit...

Re: Some panorama collections

A couple of the links in my earlier posts have been obsolete for some time now so here are some updates. There were concerns that the location information in my presentation on Little Petroglyph Canyon was too precise given the sensitive nature of the site. As a result, I reformatted it to drop the ...
