Re: High-res HTML5 panos for iPad and PC/Mac Safari

I've done some 1 on 1 comparisons on the iPad, using 1930x1930 and 1066x1066 cube faces of the same pano. The 1930x1930 set was 5.37MB, the 1066x1066 set was 1.80MB in size. That's a substantial difference in MegaBytes, considering both were compressed at the same quality setting. What I found: a. T...

iPad, insufficient memory for a pano sequence?

What a bummer, I finally had everything working on my iPad: my good old ribbon compass, a fancy full screen button, switchable info hotspots, and even a hotspot linking to another pano. But now it looks like that linked-to pano doesn't fit in iPad's memory, only three of its cube faces are visible a...

Re: iPad VGA-out with GoodReader

Well, GoodReader is a very capable application which has so far turned out to be almost perfect for local storage and display of interactive (WebKit HTML/CSS3/JavaScript) panoramas on my iPad. But it would have been even better if it also had been capable of sending those images to a connected exter...

iPad VGA-out with GoodReader

Just tested my new VGA-adapter for iPad to see if GoodReader can be used to display Webkit panos on an external monitor (or beamer!). Sadly the answer is no. It does splendidly show HTML pages, but scrolling is painfully slow, and Webkit panos do not work. Apparently the VGA-route for HTML out of Go...

Re: modifying SVG buttons for Webkit (HTML5) panos

Hi Erik. Why not simply change the position of the texts using the standard skin editor instead of editing the skin.js file?
Simply because it was quicker : )

Cheers!

Re: Memory unloading - loader.unloadAndStop

This is where I got my method from: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/mobile/WS4bebcd66a74275c3-576ba64d124318d7189-7ffc.html I just throw away all six cube face bitmaps to free up memory, crude but effective. Whatever remains of the pano after that is peanuts compared to the amount of MegaBytes of me...

Re: Memory unloading - loader.unloadAndStop

Have a look at this thread (Mon Feb 22, 2010): http://gardengnomesoftware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4198 I have noticed that the unloading method I described in the above thread isn't compatible with Pano2VR 3 beta 1 Flash panoramas. Most likely its my use of loader.unloadAndStop(); that clashe...

Re: Html5 strange behaviour

I think you would also want to include the XML file in that .zip file.

In GoodReader you can mark those HTML files with a 'star', that makes it a lot easier to find and display your panos on the iPad.

Re: Beta 3 Muti-resolution gives blurry results

A perhaps often overlooked possibility to reduce banding in clear skies is applying individual quality settings (= compression ratios) to your cube faces. To do this: In the ' Flash Output ' menu, select the ' Settings ' tab, then in ' Tile Settings ' section click on the ' Tile Quality ' button. A ...

Congratulations to Martin for joining the Gnome-team, and also of course to the Gnome-team for having Martin as a new member! I'm sure you'll do great things together!

Re: modifying SVG buttons for Webkit (HTML5) panos

Another tip for the simplex.ggsk skin as applied to Webkit panos: If, like me, you think the position of the simplex-button captions below the buttons is a bit clumsy because your finger hides them on a touch screen, then you can change that too just using a text editor if you want. For instance, in...

modifying SVG buttons for Webkit (HTML5) panos

If you would like the buttons in the simplex.ggsk skin for your Webkit ( = Safari HTML5 ) panos to be more subtle, than you can simply edit them using a text editor like Wordpad. For instance, in button-image 'info.svg', look for the line that reads like this: <g fill="#FFFFFF" stroke="#000000" stro...

Re: Externalising Full Screen Button

It's not impossible, this is about the closest I can get:

http://tinyurl.com/Plymouth-TEXT

Not completely finished yet, but you can see here what could be done using ActionScript 3 in combination with Pano2VR Flash panos.
It does take quite a few lines of code though!
